i spent a good deal of this afternoon making dinner, and much to my satisfaction it turned out pretty successful. i went with a southeast asian theme:

mango-crab fresh spring rolls with a mint dipping sauce.

satay chicken, which was served with jasmine rice.
for dessert i tried my hand at fusion cuisine, making mango panna cotta:
it was time consuming, but well worth the effort. the bottom layer was sugared mango chunks, the middle layer a thick mango cream, and the top layer a thin lemony-mango.
I really enjoyed your dinner tonight, Mariam. I thought I should use this commenting system in order to express my feelings about all three items displayed on your blog. I think you know how much I appreciated the mango panna cotta.
What’s panna cotta? Just the fact that it has mango in the name makes it seem like something I’d really like.
panna cotta is an italian egg custard that literally means ‘cooked cream.’ this version isn’t technically panna cotta though, as it contained no egg and mango isn’t exactly an italian fruit.
it came out pretty good though – let me know if you want the recipe.
The recipe would be nice. You can send it to me at citlalli31 AT gmail.com. Thanks.
